In 2008 the text-book “Organic chemistry” by the authors V.P. Chernykh, B.S.Zimenkovsky, I.S.Gritsenko won the competition-exhibition of the education publications of NUPh held as a part of the Congress “Today and tomorrow of pharmacy” (April, 16-19)

In 2013 according to the results of the competition “The Best Domestic Product of 2013” the National University of Pharmacy was awarded by the medal in the category “Education” for development of teaching materials in “Organic chemistry”discipline created by the team of authors under the supervision of the rector of the National University of Pharmacy Chernykh V.P.

The second edition of the textbook “Organic chemistry” gives the experience of many years in teaching organic chemistry at the department.
The basic aspects of modern organic chemistry are given in the textbook. The most important classes of organic compounds, their methods of obtaining, physical and chemical properties, identification are considered. An idea of mechanisms of reactions is given. The role of organic chemistry and its importance as a science are emphasized. The genetic relationship between the classes of organic compounds is shown.
When preparing the textbook to the second edition the material of the chapter “Organic sulphur compounds”, the section ”Complex lipids” were added, some chapters and sections were revised and expanded.
The material of the textbook contains some facts from the biographies of scientists, many of them are Nobel laureates. Examples from the real life and nature surrounding us make it interesting and comprehensible.
The peculiarity of the second edition of the textbook is the use of colour-printing for rendering organic compounds, mechanisms of chemical reactions; it allows to visualize the theoretical material and learn it efficiently.
After learning the material of the textbook a student must acquire solid knowledge of modern fundamentals of organic chemistry and ability to work with the original literature. The edition can be also of interest for postgraduate students, teachers and other professionals working in the field of organic chemistry and pharmacy.
